The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually come into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one company is taking advantage of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing lucrative too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
